Hong Kong Gold Coast Hotel’s YUE Receives Highest Honor at The 2015 Best of the Best Culinary Awards

(Hong Kong – 3 July 2015) Hong Kong Gold Coast Hotel’s Chinese restaurant YUE has received the Gold with Distinction Award at the 2015 Best of the Best Culinary Awards, the highest honor in Hong Kong’s largest culinary pageant organized by the Hong Kong Tourism Board. The award was received in the Chicken Pot Category for the Chicken Pot with Figs and Preserved Lemons, marking the restaurant’s third award in this annual event, evidence of YUE’s strong commitment to and execution in the culinary craft.

Under the leadership of Executive Chef Chow Hon Ling and inspired by his wealth of experience and creativity with Chinese cuisine, our team has injected new life the traditional chicken pot, uniting the features of a classic Cantonese dish with a bold creative touch to bring new meaning to Cantonese cuisine. The Chicken Pot with Figs and Preserved Lemons is a balance of opposites, coupling the complementary flavours of sweet, juicy figs and tangy, salty preserved lemons, making the taste of the chicken complex and unforgettable from the first bite.

Chicken Pot with Figs and Preserved Lemons is crafted with a meticulous methodology. First, the fresh chicken is flash-fried and then stewed for ten minutes with mushrooms, garlic and the preserved lemon. Then, a bit of honey, oyster sauce, sugar and an aromatic selection of spices add a touch of sweetness and spiciness to the mixture. After it is cooked, the chicken is sliced and transferred to the hot pot, and the broth is poured over it, steaming and fragrant. The meat is crispy on the outside but tender on the inside and is perfectly complemented by the robust flavours of the preserved lemon, figs and marinated eggs.

Chicken Pot with Figs and Preserved Lemons will make its grand debut at YUE on 1 August 2015, priced at HK$288 for a half portion and HK$576 for a full portion, and patrons will receive a 20% discount from 1 to 31 August. During the same period, YUE is also offering an Award-Winning Duo Menu, starting from HK$4,088 for six guests. In addition to the award-winning chicken hot pot, the feast also includes the 2013 Best of the Best Culinary Award-winning Spotted Garoupa Duet, as well as a selection of YUE’s other finest dishes.
